Sometimes the pimples remain on the skin in the form of dark or reddish marks, something that happens as a result of temporary inflammation. Deep marks and permanent severe scars require heavy artillery treatment methods, such as dermal fillers, injections or laser treatments. For surface-level brands, you must resort to accessible and completely natural home remedies to accelerate the healing process of surface marks.
As a basis for your homemade healing, cut a ripe papaya in half, remove the seeds and mash it with your pulp. Apply the pulp to your newly washed face, covering only areas with acne marks. Let it act for 15 minutes, then rinse your face with warm water and pat dry with a clean towel. According to face care therapist Katrina Fadda, the papain enzyme in the fruit stimulates cell turnover, helping to erase acne marks more quickly. If you do not have papaya on hand, use pineapple or kiwi.
A lemon-scented follow-up
After applying papaya, mix 1 teaspoon of lemon juice with 2 teaspoons of vitamin E oil and gently massage the skin with the mixture over the acne marks. Do it for 30 seconds to stimulate the skin and help break the scar tissue. After the massage, apply your usual facial moisturizer. Fadda reports that lemon juice acts as a skin lightening and collagen stimulator, while vitamin E calms the redness.
Get massages with diluted licorice extract on acne marks daily, just before going to sleep. Use a 2% concentration of this natural essential oil by mixing about 12 drops of the extract with one ounce of water. The University of Maryland's Medical Center warns that a 2 percent concentration of licorice extract helps soothe the redness of the skin. Speaking to the Huffington Post, dermatologist Jennifer MacGregor also recommends licorice for dark-colored acne marks. For particularly difficult brands, perform 30-second massages in affected areas with pure vitamin E at times during the day to accelerate the fading process.
Grains and prevention
While home remedies help lighten the marks, prevention serves as the most effective control method. Avoid touching, rubbing, scratching, squeezing the pimples, as these actions inflame even more and damage the skin. Add vitamin C supplements to your diet to increase your body's collagen production, as collagen prevents the appearance of acne marks and accelerates the fading process if they appear.
