How To Physically Prepare For Military Training

When you join the army, The first stop is often basic training, a rigorous program of physical and mental training. The army requires recruits to do strenuous exercise, information training and field preparation. Prepare yourself physically for the first day of basic training. The training program is not impossible, but it is helpful to get in good shape and get used to the regimes that you will find during those two brutal months.

Quit smoking, chewing or using tobacco in another way. The use of tobacco is not allowed during basic training. Use nicotine gum, patches or other smoking cessation programs to get rid of tobacco before you start. Not only will this make basic training easier, it will also make you healthier physically and mentally.

Run every day if possible. A daily run is part of the basic training and it is expected that the recruits can run 2 miles (3. 21 km) in approximately 15 to 19 minutes. Run at least two miles always to increase your condition and endurance.

Exercise with weights and do push-ups, push-ups and squats. Work the different areas of your body to increase your strength and muscle mass. Soldiers do not have to be bodybuilders, but they have to be in good physical condition. Exercise your arms, chest, legs and back. Male recruits are expected to do 40 push-ups and 50 squats with ease; women should be able to do about 20 push-ups and 50 squats.

Develop a healthy sleep schedule. While most people like to have eight hours of sleep, new recruits in basic training rarely sleep more than seven. Get ready to go to bed at 9 o'clock at night and sleep less than eight hours. Get used to getting up as early as 4:30 a.m. m. and start your training.

Eat hearty, healthy foods high in protein, carbohydrates, vegetables and fruits. Reduce snacks and junk food, as these are not allowed in basic training. With vigorous physical activity, your body needs more calories and nutrition to stay healthy.
