How To Set Up A Polar Monitor With Heart Rate Limit

The intensity in the Training can be measured in different ways. The Borg scale, or perceived exertion index, measures the intensity of exercise with a subjective range between six and 20. A more accurate measurement method is heart rate. The American College of Sports Medicine recommends exercising at rates between 50 and 85 of your maximum heart rate. People who have had prolonged physical inactivity should start at the lower limit of this range, and increase the intensity over time. You can use a Polar heart rate monitor to set a frequency limit during your exercise routine, and make sure you are always within a specific heart rate zone.

Press the up or down arrow button on your Polar heart rate monitor. This will take you to the main menu.

Highlight "Settings" and select your option, by pressing the "Start" button. Usually, this is the big button on the front of your Polar monitor.

Use the up or down arrow keys to highlight "Exercise" and press the "Start" button.
