Everyone needs a little help sometimes when it comes to regulating their bowels. Stress, alcohol intake, spicy food and a host of diseases together can wreak havoc on your gastrointestinal tract. If you are suffering from diarrhea, irregularity or anything else for which you need to harden your stools, you should stay away from fats, spices and fiber-rich foods for a while and add the following foods to your diet.
This diet (which stands for the initials in English of its content) serves to treat diarrhea, hardens stools and helps with uncomfortably overactive digestive systems in general. The key elements are banana, rice, applesauce and toast. Both bananas and applesauce work like low fiber fruits and full of pectin, which acts as a substance similar to natural gelatin by thickening and binding other foods. Rice (or rice cereal) and toast are starches and bind in the gastrointestinal tract.

Fruit juices can cause the stool to harden if it is completely squeezed, as the pulp fibers can loosen the intestines. Peeled and boiled potatoes also act as constipation foods. As in the "BRAT diet," apple puree is also a source of adequate fruit that also helps constipate.
Breads and cereals
Whole grain bread products receive praise for their fiber content and, therefore, should be left entirely out of a diet of foods to stimulate constipation. It combines white bread, refined grains and products made from white flour such as crackers, cakes, pastries and enriched pasta. These starches, which are low fiber foods, help with their constipation properties and are often acceptable when dealing with stubborn stomachs.
