Moksha Yoga Poses

Moksha Yoga Poses

Moksha yoga was founded in 2004 by Jessica Roberts and Ted Grant. This style of yoga is practiced in a room heated to approximately 100 degrees Fahrenheit (37.8 degrees Celsius). Classes are 90 minutes and consist of 40 postures. The poses are guided by certified Moksha teachers and are empowering and toning. As with any exercise program, consult your doctor before practicing it.

Savasana

Each yoga class Moksha begins and ends with Savasana, or pose of the corpse. Just lie on your back and allow your legs and arms to fall naturally on each side. Close your eyes and breathe deeply. Savasana is practiced at the beginning to allow the preparation of the class by relaxing. If it is practiced at the end of the class, the pose of the corpse allows the body a recovery time.

Standing Poses

After the first Savasana, you will move in standing poses. Some of the standing poses include leaning forward, the pose of the triangle, the pose of the tree, the pose of the warrior one and two, the pose of the eagle, the pose of the dancer, the pose of power, the turn of the speaker, the thrust of the runner and the pose of the dog upside down. All these standing poses help to have strength and balance.

Poses seated

The poses seated in Moksha yoga include bending the back, twisting and extending legs and hips. A particular sitting pose, the pose of the pigeon, is an intense hip extension, made towards the end of the class. From a sitting position, bend your left leg and bring your left foot close to your pelvis. Extend your right leg behind you. Press the tip of your right foot on the floor and align your hips with the rest of the body. The pose is maintained for one minute on each side.

Lying down

In addition to the savasana, there are a few other recumbent poses in Moksha yoha. The pose of wind relief, massage the colon and hips. While you are lying on your back, hug your right knee folded over your chest. Keep it for a minute and repeat it with the left side. To finish, hug both knees, holding it now for another minute. Other poses recostadas are the pose of the thread and the needle, the pose of the cobra and the pose of the bridge.
