The formation of scar tissue is part of the body's way of helping to cure a skin infection. The red coloration is called erythema. Healing causes inflammation and the process of making new blood vessels, called neovascularization. Some of the inflammation and new blood vessels do not heal over time or take a long time to do so. Certain laser treatments can make scar tissue disappear much more quickly and with better results.
A group of lasers called dye lasers use 595 nanometer light to find and treat the oxyhemoglobin area of the red cells inside the vessels. They selectively point to the color red. With a few treatment sessions, the abnormal color can be transformed into healthy skin color. These lasers are very safe and were designed to solve the port wine stains in children, a disease that reddens the skin and can survive until adulthood, and are now used to get rid of any unwanted red tissue. They are commonly used to get rid of rosacea, broken blood vessels and even certain spider veins.
Lasers restore normal color to the skin by getting rid of the smaller blood vessels, which give the skin a red color. These devices point to the red areas and there concentrate energy towards the skin. Things that are red absorb this wavelength and can be "deleted" selectively. The material is then reabsorbed by the body. Our body "eats" unwanted cells and tissues and gets rid of them all the time. The energy of the laser causes these cells to "warm up" and become a waste object for the body.
The clearer the skin is, the easier it is to see areas that have turned red. Rosacea, for example, is a skin disease that increases the redness of the skin and is more common among individuals with fair skin. Anyway, even dark skin turns red after a skin infection. This is because the redness contributes to the healing of the wounds. Our bodies direct blood flow to the area of infection or stroke and this causes the initial redness. If it becomes excessive and persistent after the infection has healed, it is because it is part of the healing process, and this can be treated.
