Shave Injuries

Shave Injuries

No matter what area You are shaving, the scratches and cuts are a real pain. These hurt and bleed, and can become a real obstacle to your dress plans. However, you do not have to allow a shaving wound to ruin your day or your appearance. A quick remedy will heal you in a matter of minutes and allow you to return to your activities. Planning carefully next time will help you avoid the problem in the first place.

Cleans and applies a dressing

The simplest and most time-tested cleaning method for a shaving wound is not particularly different from the one you would use for any other cut, as the saying goes, if it is not broken, do not fix it. Wash the cut with soap and water, and use a dry towel or a piece of gauze to keep the pressure on it for a few minutes. This will keep the wound clean and give your body time to carry out the clotting, and stop the bleeding. Once the procedure is finished, apply a dressing on the affected area.

Powders and Tricks

Try an alternative method for scratches and small cuts, especially in areas where it is unlikely that you can put an adhesive dressing. Wash the cut as usual and apply an ice cube to reduce irritation, and to shrink blood vessels. Next, smear an over-the-counter coagulant or sealant product to close the wound. A styptic pencil or powder will stop the bleeding, while liquid bandages or even a pinch of lip balm will seal the cut, and will keep it protected without being too noticeable.

Quality blades

It might seem logical that a sharper blade would be more dangerous, but in reality what happens is the opposite; the older and dull your razor blade is, the more likely you are to cut yourself. This is why you should always change your razor blades according to the instructions that bring them; some last much longer than others. Using newer, sharpened blades helps prevent shaving injuries caused by cuts.

Avoid accidents

The way you shave could be responsible for the injuries during this procedure, so be sure to use a solid strategy. For example, shave when your skin is clean, warm and moist. When it is hydrated, you are less likely to cut yourself. Always shave in the direction of hair growth, never do it against the grain, and lubricate your skin first with a moisturizing lotion or shaving cream. A sensible shave strategy is the best way to avoid hurting yourself.
