Work Objectives As Auxiliary Nursing

Nursing assistants provide basic care the patient under the direct supervision of a nurse. They perform tasks such as grooming, clothing, bathing, food and movement to patients in addition to changing the sheets on their beds. Nursing assistants should interact with patients on a daily basis, so that their help be pleasant and friendly.

Personal Care

Nursing assistants should collect patient samples, administer medications or treatments, assist patients with walking or exercise, and dress and undress. They may also have to take vital signs, prepare patients for tests, treatments or therapy, administer enemas, showers or irrigations, or work with patients with disabilities or mental illness. They may also have to weigh patients, manipulate moving objects and work as part of a medical team that examines and treats outpatients at the clinic.

Physical tasks

Some of the physical goals of a nursing assistant include changing a patient's bedding, either in a nursing home or in the patient's own home. They must also do their duty to prepare the medical treatment room in a nursing facility, keep the rooms or work areas clean, lift and transport sick or injured patients and establish patient care teams. It is also part of the job duties of a nursing assistant to prepare, serve and collect food trays, restraining patients if necessary, moving and rearranging bedridden patients to prevent pressure ulcers, and observing patient conditions, measure and record food and intake and output of fluids and vital signs, as well as report changes to nurses or other professional personnel.

Administrative Objectives

Some of the administrative objectives of a nursing assistant include answering telephones and directing visitors to the correct rooms and places throughout the nursing home or hospital; delivery of messages, documents and samples; perform office tasks, such as scheduling appointments and document processing, explaining medical instructions for patients and family members, and placing equipment such as oxygen tanks, portable X-ray machines, and irrigation bottles.

Other objectives

A nursing assistant must also aim to establish and maintain interpersonal relationships; observe, receive and obtain information from all relevant sources, develop plans and goals to prioritize, organize and carry out specific tasks; coordinate the work and activities of others; make an inventory of medical supplies or instruments; keep dental or medical records, and think creatively.They should also instruct patients in the use of a support device, in methods to improve functional activities, work directly with the public, resolve conflicts and negotiate with others, evaluate information to determine compliance with laws, regulations and regulations.
